“One Size Fits All”?? Bulldust!!

one size fits all, 3D rendering, triple flags

Micro businesses are invariably started by people who are good at something – making cakes, fixing watches, plumbing, home handyperson work, etc etc. They are not always owned by people who are good at other aspects associated with running a business – HR (including people management in general) , WHS/OH&S, Insurance, Budgeting, etc.

If your HR provider (perhaps one that you connected with after seeing an attractive/interesting ad on social media?) wants to provide you with a “one size fits all” HR document pack, do yourself a BIG favour and get a second opinion or quotation.

In the past month, I have seen or have had reported to me:

  • businesses who have the same contract for full time, salaried employees and part time employees,
  • policies for topics that are simply not needed in their business (e.g. A Company Vehicle Use Policy, when there are no company vehicles)
  • and a Working Remotely/Working From Home Policy that has not been updated since pre-Covid19 times.

Experience tells me that, if this part of their business is in need of an overhaul, chances are that they can also do better in other areas.

“One size” does NOT fit all and a little time (and maybe a little money) spent will pay dividends in the long term for your business.
